    Jimmie "Jim" Charles Weems

    July 21, 1944 - April 10, 2021

Jim Weems, of Terrell, passed away on April 10, 2021 into the presence of his Lord and Savior. Jim was born July 21, 1944 in Lufkin, Tx to Jim and Gladys (Jones) Weems, both of whom greeted him in Heaven along with his brother, Roy Weems, and grandson, Levi Hamby. Jim was a man of many interests and talents. He was a talented millwright with his high precision craftsmanship being primarily in the industrial side where he would oversee the installation, dismantling, repair, reassembly and moving of machinery in factories, power plants and construction sites. He had an eye for detail as well as an enviable skill of seeing the big picture and, as a result, he was a very well respected colleague in his field. Jim was also a skilled woodworker, mechanic and farmer having raised cattle where he lived. He also had a strong and dedicated faith and Jim was often called to pastor churches and small groups helping others to love and serve the Lord. He and Anita were members of River of Life Church in Kemp where they had many friends. During his free time, Jim loved to ride motorcycles and have time with his family. He had an abundance of knowledge he could, and would, share based on experiences and life lessons that he had learned. He never wasted a moment of life-he felt like he had been blessed beyond measure and only wanted to give back the incredible love he felt for his family and friends. Jim’s favorite movie was “Second Hand Lions” in that he felt like that perfectly summed up life: likely and “un”likely associations made life a wonderful journey! His wit, intelligence, kindness, and smile will be so missed and always remembered. Jim is survived by his wife, whom he married on Oct. 14, 1983, Anita Weems, of Terrell; sons: James Christopher Weems and wife, Shannon, of Eustace and Gem Olan Weems and wife, Jenny, of Edgewood; grandchildren: Chellsea Burke and husband Ronald, Dennis Weems, Marina Stickel, Nina Gallegos and Fedor Weems; 9 great grandchildren; brother, Byford Weems and wife, Elaine as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends, all of whom loved Jim dearly and will miss him greatly. Funeral service will be at 11:00am, Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at King Cemetery in Kemp, Texas. His family will receive friends 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Wednesday, April 14, at the funeral home.
