    John Wilder

    February 12, 1953 - October 13, 2020

John Wilder, of Terrell, passed away October 13, 2020 in Dallas. John was born Feb. 12, 1953 in Terrell to John Eber and Mildred Elizabeth (Boshears) Wilder, both of whom preceded him in death. John attended schools in Terrell and was a US Air Force veteran. He was employed as a truck driver for many years with several transportation companies where he made many friends. John enjoyed fishing and spending time with nieces, nephews, and his neighbors. He was a frequent sight on the front porch waving to passerby and chatting with the folks who came by to visit. He collected knives and had an eye for fine craftsmanship and creativity in every knife he owned. His smile and daily conversations will be missed by many. John is survived by his sisters: Beth Maley and Evelyn Scott and husband, Dale; brother, Michael Wilder as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends. Funeral service will be 2:00pm, Friday, October 16, 2020, at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Locust Grove Cemetery in the Hiram Community. The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm, Thursday, October 15, at Max Slayton Funerals and Cremations. The family asks that memorials be made in John’s name to the Genesis Center at www.genesiscenter.org .
