August 19, 1958 - December 27, 2019
Pastor Johnny William Ford, III, beloved Pastor, husband, dad and friend, passed away peacefully into his Heavenly reward on December 27, 2019 with family by his side. He was born Aug. 19, 1958 in Plant City, Florida to Johnny, Jr. and Betty (Davis) Ford, both of whom preceded him in death along with his brother, Keith Hightower and sister, Brenda Futch. Johnny grew up in Florida and graduated from Tampa High School. After graduation, he moved to Terrell in 1976 and on January 7, 1977, he married the love of his life, Grace Hawkins. Johnny surrendered his life to the call of preaching the Gospel and for many years he pastored and preached to many congregations as well as sharing his faith with others he met daily. He loved to help people and was the first to look for ways to exemplify the unconditional love of the Holy Father for others who needed to hear the Good News. His latest calling to serve as pastor to Restoration Church in Terrell filled his heart to overflowing as he was able to minister and share God’s healing and powerful words to so many friends, neighbors and his community. He was a selfless man who gave willingly and often without expecting anything back. Johnny’s humbleness was easily seen every day as he often worked behind the scenes to assist others with no need or want of praise or attention-he simply, and wholeheartedly, loved to serve. Along with his love of the Lord, Johnny was also known to be a “pancake connoisseur” and many visits and times of fellowship were spent over a good meal with pancakes that Johnny could assess the best qualities of that pancake and no matter his opinion, Johnny still always enjoyed eating his fill! A loving, kind, generous man who wanted everyone to grow closer to the Lord above all else, Johnny will be forever missed until the great reunion one day with all of us and our Lord and Savior! Johnny is survived by his wife of over 42 years, Grace Ford of Forney; son, Johnny Ford, IV and wife, Dechen, of Crandall; daughter, Amber Ford of Forney; grandchildren: Gracie, Johnny V, Kristin, Logan and Jesse; sister, Debbie Tallant; brother, Kenny Hightower and wife, Teresa as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends. Funeral service will be at 11:00am, Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019 at First Assembly of God in Terrell, 203 Main St. with interment to follow at Morrow Chapel Cemetery in Kaufman, Tx. The family will receive friends 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Monday, December 30, 2019 at Max Slayton Funerals and Cremations. Memorials are being requested in honor of Johnny’s remembrance to Restoration Life Church, PO Box 2097, Terrell, TX, 75160.
