    Joyce Marlene McPherson

    November 26, 1942 - December 2, 2021

Joyce Marlene McPherson passed away peacefully from this life and into the arms of her Lord and Savior on December 2, 2021. Marlene was born on November 26, 1942, into the loving family of Cecil Burt McPherson and Ruby Sutton McPherson in Thackerville, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and other family members. Marlene graduated from White Rose School, where she had the honor of being valedictorian, member of the Honor Society, and a leader in many organizations. She continued her education at North Texas State University in Denton, Texas, and graduated with a degree in education. She then saw her lifelong dream of becoming educator fulfilled when she began teaching at Electra Independent School District. In 1994 she was an honoree at Electra’s homecoming and was named as outstanding Ex-teacher of Electra Independent School District. Marlene moved to Sanger, Texas after her retirement and considered herself blessed to spend many retirement years with her mother, Ruby. She was a member of the Asbury Methodist Church in Denton, Texas. Marlene enjoyed Bible studies, doing volunteer work, reading, listening to music, and working crossword puzzles. She especially relished the time spent with friends. She was an avid animal lover, with an extra special place in her heart for dogs and cats. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA or an organization of your choice. Graveside service in celebration of her life will be held at the Sanger Cemetery at a later date.
