Linda Jacobs
January 29, 1940 - April 2, 2020
Linda Louise Jacobs met Jesus face to face on April 2, 2020. Although her family misses her greatly, we rejoice that she is free from pain and suffering. Our mother became a believer in Jesus when she was 9 years old. She depended on Him throughout her life. Linda was a quiet person and didn’t share her fears or sorrows because she knew the Lord would provide comfort and meet her needs. Linda was born on January 29, 1940 to Eva and Melvin Jacobs. She was preceded death by her parents, her husband, Lawrence Phillips, Jr., two sisters: Doris Lindner of Colorado, Wanda Eatherton of Terrell and her bother Milton Mack Jacobs as well as her oldest son, Davy Phillips, who went to be with the Lord in 1991. Linda was married to Lawrence Allen Phillips, Jr. on March 29, 1959 and to this union four children were born: Jannette, Davy, Jake, and Dana and her devotion and love for her children were evident for all to see. Linda lived a simple life and loved deeply and she truly enjoyed caring for others. As a young woman she was a stay at home mom, but as her children grew up, she began working outside the home in caring for the elderly as a medication aide. She loved pets, especially dogs. They enjoyed snuggling up with her on the couch to enjoy a good Gene Autry movie. Linda grew up in the country and preferred that type of living to city living. She said it was a quiet and relaxing environment. Linda, along with her brothers and sisters had chores, but no allowance and she was fine with that. She had a special bond with her dad and she often spoke of how much he loved his children and the joy he had in spending time with them. For recreation, she liked to swim and go horse-back riding. Her favorite food was potato salad, but she also enjoyed fried okra, shrimp, Mexican food and a hot cup of coffee with sugar. Of the many things that Linda will be remembered for such as her generosity, her kindness and her willingness to help, above all else, she loved her children!! Linda is survived by her cherished children: Jannette Ames Myers of Ovilla, Jake Phillips of Terrell, and Dana Phillips of Milford, Texas; three grandchildren: Austin Ames, Jordan Ames, and Ayla Knox; great granddaughter, Keira Ames. Linda loved her nieces and nephews and had a special bond with Donna and Ronnie and she will be missed greatly by other extended family and friends. Linda's family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2020, at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday April 6, 2020, at Highland Memorial Gardens in Terrell.
