Lynsey Jaclyn Berger-Wharton

Born on March 21st, 1991, Lynsey Jaclyn Berger-Wharton, of Wills Point, departed from Earth to Heaven on October 2nd, 2020. Born in Dallas, TX, Lynsey is the daughter of Steve and Lorri Berger and she was welcomed into Heaven by her Lord and Savior as well as her grandfathers, Robert E. Berg and Robert Chriswisser and her father-in-law, Gary Wayne Wharton. Lynsey was an exceptional young lady who had a heart for helping everyone: plants, animals, humans - all were her friends and family. Her departure leaves a wake of grieving friends and cherished memories of selfless care and authentic love. As a Wills Point Tiger, Class of 2009, she played softball as catcher and a heavy bat, "Pudge-Berger!"; it is here she learned how to be a true friend. Leading life with an entrepreneurial spirit, she combined her love of animals and desire to own and operate her own pet grooming business, Dirty Tails Doggie Salon. She was also a passionate and dedicated longtime teammate of the Texas Spirit Riders, a rodeo drill team, where her hard work and devotion awarded and entrusted her as Captain of her team of talented, fierce and brave ladies. Lynsey's curiosity and love of learning led her into many forays including, most recently, foraging for edible wild mushrooms. Her ability to quickly learn the different characteristics between poisonous and delicious fungi fascinated her and gave her new reasons to seek out Nature. When not riding with the Texas Spirit Riders or hunting for mushrooms one could find Lynsey nursing a sick animal, training a dog, changing a friend's tire, driving the boat - or tractor, running a charity event or celebrating life at Round Pen Cowboy Church where, again, her protective personality set her apart as having a true servant’s heart. She found peace in making sure that others never needed anything. A truly beautiful lady, inside and out, her smile could light up every room she walked into. Lynsey will be missed by the many whose lives she touched and her legacy of kindness to others will live on in every heart that loved her. Lynsey leaves behind many to cherish her memory including her husband, Travis Wharton; parents, Steve and Lorri Berger; brother, Clayton Berger - all of Wills Point; grandmothers: Juanita Berg-Gass and Brenda Chriswisser; mother-in-law, Lynn Wharton; brother-in-law, Gary Lynn Wharton as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, church family and a troop of ride-or-die friends. Her funeral service will be at 11:30am, Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Round Pen Cowboy Church, 5620 FM 148 North, Terrell, TX,75160. Lynsey's family will receive friends beginning at 10:00am to service time. Interment will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery in Wills Point.
