Maggie Marshburn Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Maggie Bell Marshburn, of Forney, passed away into the presence of her Savior on the morning of March 31, 2020. Maggie was born March 4, 1918 in Sunnyvale, Tx to Thomas and Laura Ragsdale, both of whom met her in Heaven along with her husband, Mickey Marshburn, son, Tommy Marshburn, 8 brothers and sisters, and son-in-law, David Yandell. Maggie grew up in the Sunnyvale community during a time when it was mostly farms and times spent with family and close friends. As Dallas began to move eastward, she had a front row seat to see the many changes and growth that Sunnyvale and, later, Forney, take on as a result of new people and new business coming to the area. Despite the rapid growth, Maggie stayed true to her early years by treasuring simple parts of life like hard work, commitment, spending time with family, good friends and getting together to make memories. After high school, she married the love of her life, Mickey Marshburn and together they raised their wonderful family with an unshakable foundation of faith and love until his passing in 1995. Maggie had a talent for sewing and was an accomplished seamstress in her career. She also sewed her children’s clothes as well as many other items for her extended family and friends and her love for them showed in each beautiful stitch. Gardening was also a wonderful pastime for Maggie with beautiful and colorful flowers being a favorite. She was a member of Long Creek Baptist Church in Sunnyvale where her lively personality and love for the Lord helped members and visitors feel instantly welcome. Maggie had a great sense of humor that endeared her to the many people that she met in her long life and her smile would light up every room. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and Maggie will be missed greatly by all who knew her. Maggie leaves to carry on her legacy of unconditional love to her daughter, Joanne Yandell of Forney, grandchildren: Sherri Ansley and husband, Randy, Lisa Couch and husband, Bruce, Larry Marshburn, Tracy Holcomb, Stephanie Harper; great grandchildren: Brandon Couch and wife, Jennifer, Paige Hurley and husband, Clint, Jason Ansley and wife, Melissa, and Kelli Ortman and husband, Dustin; 9 great-great grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, extended relatives and a host of friends. Graveside service for Maggie will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 3, 2020, at Long Creek Cemetery in Sunnyvale. For those in attendance who are not family and keeping in mind current county restrictions, we ask that you please park by the fence and remain in your cars during the service.
