PLEASE BE ADVISED OF SERVICE CHANGES ***FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE PRIVATE*** ***VISITATION for Mrs. Margie Patterson is PUBLIC Thursday, 4:00pm to 7:00pm*** Margie Patterson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 5, 2020 with her family by her side. Margie was born April 24, 1950 in Ethel, Arkansas. She was met in Heaven by her father, Ernest Horton, her mother whom she only knew for a short time before her passing, Ernestine (Franks) Horton, her mother who raised her with love and care, Betty Horton, her siblings: Melba Perky, Dale Horton, and Larry Horton and beloved son, Cody Allen. Early in her life, Margie came to know how love from family could help make life a blessing and this foundation of unconditional love is what gave Margie the kind, caring and generous heart that she had not only for her own family but for her many friends as well. She had a great sense of humor and she loved to laugh. Her fun loving personality made every excursion, whether it was shopping or traveling, an epic adventure! While on the many shopping trips, especially with her grandson Jake, her favorite and most repeated phrase was “Charge it to Papa”!! Her travels took her to Florida, Tennessee, Hawaii and Aruba with her very favorite place being Las Vegas. Margie had an affinity for the casinos and it was well known that she could “sense” any casino at the many destinations that she travelled to with family and friends. She was generous, caring, kind and funny and her devotion to her family was well known. In meeting Margie, you had an instant friend for life that would help in any way she could. Her strength and perseverance through life’s ups and downs will always be a treasured and celebrated legacy by those who loved her. Margie is survived by her husband, Don Patterson of Terrell; daughters: Sophie Gregg, Donna Riley and husband, Jimbo; numerous precious grandchildren and cherished great grandchildren; brother, Greg Horton; sister, Rosemary Thomas and husband, Jarvis, brother, John Henckel as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of special friends, including her longtime friend, Bettye Ballard. Funeral service will private with interment to follow at College Mound Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Thursday, May 7, at the funeral home. Current guidelines from the CDC, State of Texas and Kaufman County allow for unlimited attendees at the graveside with emphasis on the 6 foot social distancing.
