    Mary Shaw Dodson

    March 10, 1940 - January 6, 2020

Mary Shaw Dodson, longtime resident of the Terrell area, passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on the evening of Jan. 6, 2020. Mary was born March 10, 1940 in Edgewood, TX to Jackson and Lawrencie (Brown) Shaw, both of whom preceded her in death along with her beloved daughter, Tammy Cargle and siblings: Billy Ray Shaw, Pat Shaw, and Janice Wood. Mary was a well known and well loved familiar face in Terrell having worked in the offices of Babcock Auto and Glen Beesley State Farm Insurance office and her outstanding customer service skills always made clients feel very comfortable and valued. She then worked with Musser Motors s until her retirement in 2002 where, again, her friendly personality was a true asset to the Musser dealership. Mary loved to fish and cook and her signature dishes were a treat to all who were lucky enough to receive them and she had a special place in her heart to provide hot, fresh home-cooked meals to others who were sick or feeling under the weather. Her humility was also well known and when others praised her servant’s heart, Mary merely smiled and said she was only doing what Jesus would do for others. She married the loved of her life, John Wayne Dodson and they were inseparable every day. Their love was a testament to how marriage should be: a loyal partnership based on loving God, each other and their family and friends. A gracious lady who always smiled and blessed others with her kindness, Mary will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her. Mary will be remembered always by her beloved husband, John W. Dodson, of Lawrence; sons: Bobby Dodson and wife, Donna, of Elmo and James Dodson of Elmo; grandchildren: Katie Dodson, Ashley Goodrich and husband, Cody, Jill Zych and husband Garry, Jamey Dodson, Julie Dodson, J.W. Cargle, Sarah Cargle, Alan Delaney and Michael Delaney; great grandchildren: Makenzie Williams and Ty Goodrich; brother, Malcolm Shaw and wife, Doris; son-in-law, Daniel Cargle as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and a host of friends. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 9, 2020, at Terrell Fellowship Baptist Church, 1550 Co. Rd. 303, Terrell, Tx. 75160, with interment to follow at Elmo Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at Max Slayton Funerals and Cremations.
