Maurice "Junior" Uptmor

December 25, 1952 - November 20, 2020

Maurice William Uptmor, Jr., passed away peacefully into the arms of his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, on Friday, November 20, 2020, surrounded by his family. He was born December 25, 1952, in Hillsboro, Texas to Maurice William, Sr. and Mary Mildred (Thompson) Uptmor. He married the love of his life, Lori Ann Hessel, on December 7, 1990, in Kaufman. Maurice retired from Johnson Control after 24 and a half years of dedicated and loyal service. He had a love for restoring cars, especially Ford Mustangs, and seeing them restored brought Maurice great joy. Above all else, though, he absolutely loved his grandchildren and spending time with his family and being outside were truly the best times in his life. Maurice was met in Heaven by his father Maurice William Uptmor, Sr. and his sister, Carla Sue Fuentes. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Lori Hessel Uptmor, of Terrell; daughters, Beverly Smith and husband, Rodney, of Hot Springs, Ark., and April Winiewicz and husband, Chris, of Austin; sons: Bryan Uptmor of Terrell, Randy Wood and wife, Lorraine, of Forney and Chase Wood of Terrell; grandchildren: Jacob and Riley Smith, Koby, Kambry and Kason Wood, Christian and Ava Winiewicz and Aiden Wood; mother, Mary Uptmor of Terrell; brother, Norman Joe Uptmor and wife, Bonnie, of Fairfield, Tx; sister, Peggy Smith and husband, Lee, of Scurry; special cousin, Charlie Ray “CUZ” Thompson, Rhonda Hanson and her husband, Art, of Waterloo, IA; sisters-in-law: Linda Dudley and husband, Nathan, of Terrell and Janice Peek; brothers-in-law: Bill Hessel and wife, Lucy, and Danny Hessel and wife, Anna, all of Terrell as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, November 23, 2020, at College Mound Cemetery with Rev. Craig Rutherford officiating.
