September 21, 1978 - June 21, 2021
Meleah Kaye Petkovich, beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to so many, passed away on June 21, 2021 in Dallas. Meleah was born Sept. 21, 1978 in Marrero, Louisiana to Anthony and Lydia and she was the absolute light of their lives. She was met in Heaven by her grandparents: Anthony and Flora Petkovich and James D. Ussery; her god-daughter, Breaker Reese Howard and a cousin, with whom Meleah was especially close to, Abe Jalil. A vibrant and loving person from the moment she was born, Meleah had a way of lighting up every room that she entered. Her lively personality was the highlight of any get together and her sense of humor and joy for life set each interaction she had with others as fun and adventurous! Meleah was a proud graduate of Terrell High School, class of 1997 and she remained close to the many friends she made in Terrell during her life. She loved people and she worked at positions that would ensure her being able to always help. Meleah’s banking career began at ANB Terrell and Wylie and continued at Regions Bank in Port Sulphur and Shreveport, Louisiana. Most recently, she worked with Wal-Mart in Wylie for the last 4 years as The Eye in the Sky in Asset Protection. During her travels between Texas and Louisiana, Meleah worked at a construction site as the office manager, but it was well known that she was going to also put on a hard hat and lend a hand to the crew (or keep them in line!) As well as having a positive outlook and attitude at work and outside of work, Meleah also was a leader that so many looked up to. No challenge was too big and she always made sure that family and friends knew they could count on her. Days spent with Meleah were filled with laughter, good times, and stories-she was a vibrant storyteller who could enthrall each listener with the way she could effortlessly recount the details, always ending with a good belly laugh because she could capture the tale just perfectly! A devoted mother, her days spent with her children, Hannah and Hayden, were the best days to Meleah. Watching them grow into caring and competent young adults filled her heart with joy and made her proud to be their mom. Her willing spirit and kindness to all will be missed by her family and friends but carried on into future generations so that others may know, and never forget, Meleah’s wonderful legacy of unconditional love and fun. Meleah leaves a wonderful heritage of treasured memories to her children: Hannah Petkovich and Hayden Calk, both of Wylie, TX; mother, Lydia Wiley and husband, Jerry, of Terrell; father, Anthony “Speedy” Petkovich of Buras, LA; brother, Casey Wiley and wife, Meredith, and their family of Canton, TX, Zach Wiley and wife, Autumn and their family of Prosper, TX as well as numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of friends far and wide, all of whom will miss Meleah greatly but rest in the knowledge that they will see her smile again in Heaven. A gathering of friends and family will be from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel where all are invited to share the many stories and memories of Meleah. There will also be a celebration of her life held at a later date in Louisiana.
