Mike Zellmer passed away peacefully on September 30, 2019 with family at his side. He was born December 1, 1955 in Waco, Tx to Erwin and Lucy Zellmer, both of whom preceded him in death along with his brothers: Jerry Zellmer and Erwin Zellmer, Jr. A Celebration of Mike’s life will be at 2:30pm, Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with Pastor Michael Perry officiating. Mike loved to watch sports especially football and baseball. He was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and would regularly support his team every week they played. He had a gregarious personality that made an instant friend of all who met him, and he loved to just take time and relax with family. He enjoyed simple things like attending concerts, taking a few chances on gambling or the Lotto and having a cold beer with friends and family. Mike worked with construction of residential and commercial projects where he installed all types of flooring. He was one of the best installers in the area and was very sought after by other general contractors for renovations and build outs. His work ethic was uncompromising, and everyone knew that the task would not only be completed ahead of time but be completed perfectly. Mike had a smile that would light up the room and he will be missed by everyone who knew him. Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Angelique “Bo” Zellmer of Balch Springs; children: Lisa Zellmer Young and husband, Josh, of Waco, Amanda Houchen and husband, Charles, of Seagoville, Jessica Clay and husband, Alix, of Mesquite; grandchildren: William Young and Landyn, Madisyn and Jordyn Houchen; siblings: Judy O’Dell and husband, Bill, Joann Klein, Ernie Zellmer, Dwayne Zellmer, Vernon Zellmer, and Shannon Veno; special nephew who was just like a brother, Ronnie Klein as well as several other nephews, nieces, extended family and a host of friends who loved him dearly and will continue to carry on his legacy of love.
