    Nancy Smith

    July 5, 1938 - April 25, 2022

Nancy Jean Smith, longtime resident of Forney, passed away on April 25, 2022 at her home with family at her side. She was born July 5, 1938 in El Paso, Tx to Prentis O. and Margaret Davis, both of whom met her in Heaven along with her son, David Wayne Smith and daughter, Cynthia Carol Smith-Griffin and sister Carol Gard. Nancy grew up in the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas and was a 1956 graduate of Pleasant Grove High School, the last graduating class before it became known as W.W. Samuell High School. On June 12, 1958, she married the love of her life, James D. Smith, at Grace Methodist in Dallas and together they had 64 wonderful years together while raising their family. Nancy worked at Texas Instruments for over 23 years and then with a TI subcontractor, Pan Printomics, for an additional seven years. She was a loyal employee with a company wide reputation for dependability. She enjoyed traveling and, later in life, she would often attend the shows and conventions with James and their Gold Wing motorcycle associations. Nancy had a heart for all animals, especially her dogs and she doted on each of them through her life. A beloved wife, treasured mother, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother and special friend, Nancy will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, James D. Smith of Forney; daughter, Judy Lynn and husband Harold Currin of Mt Enterprise, TX; daughter-in-law, Deandra Smith of Forney; grandchildren: Kylie Smith of Forney; Tony and Jessica Griffin of Minnesota, Ashley and Jake James of Oklahoma City, OK, Christy and Larry Shiplett of Chandler, TX, Jason and Jessica Currin of Lindale, TX and Justin Currin of Timpson, TX; eight great grandchildren as well as other extended family and friends. A celebration of her life will be at 1:00pm, Monday, May 2, 2022 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel. Memorials in honor of Nancy may be made to the FBC Forney Higher Ground 2.0 fund at https://fbcforney.org/give/ or to the Forney Animal Shelter, PO Box 826, Forney, TX 75126.
