Nicholas (Nick) Steven Durham Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Nicholas “Nick” Steven Durham passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022 in Mesquite, Texas. Nick was born to Steve Durham and Margaret Ranae Turner on Aug. 6, 1980 in Terrell, Texas. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ranae Turner; grandparents: Othello and V.E. Durham and Billie and L.D. Sparks Sr. and great grandparents, J.T. and Etta Pitts. Nick was known for many things over the years with his culinary skills and his deep passion for Michigan State being two. When in the kitchen, Nick would create the most wonderful, full flavored foods. He was a sous chef and made pastries, desserts, baked goods and anything that would make the mouth water. Not only was Nick a fantastic cook, he was highly skilled at building computers and general Information Technology. His incredible skill with software applications, design as well as the hardware composition for the physical components for building the fastest computer for himself or his friends. Nick was also an avid reader and intelligent individual. His ability to retain the information he read was truly astounding and made him truly the most interesting guy to hang out with. He enjoyed watching any true crime show (his very favorite being “The First 48”) that came on TV and was known to call his sister, Sarah, and tell her of every detail of each case and the complicated yet interesting stories of the people involved. His keen perception of others and their personalities helped Nick to see subtle clues during the program that were revealed at the end. He had a heart of gold and really loved his son, Nicholas, and he was very proud of the young man his son was becoming. Nick was also a devoted uncle to his nieces and nephews and was known as Uncle Ruckus because of always having a way of getting into trouble. His other passion being his beloved Michigan State team was also well known and with Michigan State beat Ohio State this past year, those that love Nick most know this win was in honor of Nick! Those left here on earth to cherish his memory are his son, Nicholas Durham of Denton; father, Steve Durham of Terrell along with his devoted siblings, all of whom remain to carry on his love and legacy, sister Sarah Hunter and husband, James, of Athens; sister, Ellen Swindle and husband, Mike, of Terrell and Sara Currens and husband, Steve, of Terrell; nieces and nephews: Luke and Jordan Hunter, Alexandria KIlmer, Megan Turner and Cody Currens; girlfriend, Shawna Velez along with many other extended family and a host friends who will miss him dearly. Funeral service will be at 2:00pm, Friday, July 1, 2022 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Oakland Memorial Park. His family will receive friends 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Thursday, June 30, at the funeral home.
