Ray Marett

July 5, 1947 - January 21, 2018

Ray Marett of Terrell passed away peacefully at home on January 21, 2018 after a long battle with Parkinsons. He was born July 5, 1947 in Grand Saline to the late W.O. and Hazel Lorraine Monk Marett. Ray was a member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Church in Mesquite where he was involved in the prison ministry. He was in the automotive paint industry for 40 years, eventually retiring as the National Sales Manager for DuPont Paint. Ray’s passion was collecting and restoring antique classic muscle cars. He was very proud of his many trophies and the centerfold of his 56 Bel Air Chevrolet in Rod & Custom Magazine. After his health declined, his favorite pastime was watching birds with his dog Turbo – his best buddy. Ray is survived by his wife of nearly 25 years, Marilyn Marett of Terrell, son David Ray Marett and his fiancée Brenna Winn, daughter, Dana Marett, step-son Dewayne Williams and wife Stephanie; grandchildren: Michael Ann Gilette, Harley Drummond, Seth Weldon, and Makayla Williams; sisters: Gay Hathcock and husband Carl, Tommie Kay Stephens and husband Danny as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, church family and friends. Funeral service will be 1 pm Wednesday January 24, 2018 at Life Pointe Church 1600 Griffith Ave, Terrell, with internment to follow at Woodside Cemetery in Grand Saline. Family will receive friends 6 pm to 8 pm Tuesday, January 23 at Max Slayton Funerals and Cremations. Family requests memorials be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation www.parkinsons.org.
