February 1, 1938 - December 15, 2020
Sarah Taffer Blasius, of Terrell, passed away peacefully on Dec. 15, 2020 at her home with family at her side. Sarah was born Feb. 1, 1938 in Terrell and she was met in Heaven by her father, James M. Taffer, mother, Frances (Darst) Taffer Berry, her step father, William D. Berry, husband, Willie Jack Blasius and brother, Edward “Eddie” Taffer. Sarah graduated from Terrell High School in 1956 where, in addition to her academic aptitude, she was an accomplished tennis player on the THS team and was a Flag Bearer with the Color Guard. On March 29, 1958, she married the love of her life, Willie Jack Blasius at Rockwall and Brin Church of Christ, and together they had many wonderful years until his passing in 1997. A loving and supportive wife in all aspects, Sarah was the foundation in their family as Jack’s job opportunities took them to various cities in Texas. She made sure to make their house a home, become a part of their new city’s activities along with finding her own employment options. Sarah had a knack for organization, and she enjoyed accounting and bookkeeping, and she worked outside the home at Republic National Bank and then at Mercantile Bank, both in Downtown Dallas. Following Jack, she then worked for Exxon in Houston and Mesa Petroleum in Midland before coming back home to Terrell where she was employed by Texans Credit Union in Dallas until her retirement in 2002. She was an active member of Rockwall and Brin Church of Christ where she taught the little ones in the Pitty Pat program for over 10 years. Sarah also loved to quilt and crochet and her enjoyment of playing tennis lasted well into her 70s! Never one to stay idle, Sarah also enjoyed visiting with friends and family and she was a wonderful house-sitter and caretaker for her daughter Laurie’s dogs whom Sarah considered beloved ‘grand-dogs’. The very essence of a Proverbs 31 wife, mother, friend and servant of the Lord, Sarah will be missed greatly by all who knew her. She leaves to cherish her legacy of unconditional love to her treasured daughter, Laurie Crim of Dallas; sisters: Cynthia Cave of Campbell and Maye Taffer of Terrell; sister-in-law, Judy Poe; brother-in-law, Don Dozier of McKinney and her "adopted" daughter, Sharon Parker of Dallas as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family, church family and friends made near and far. Graveside service will be at 11:00am, Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Terrell where Sarah will be laid to rest next to her husband, Jack. Her family asks, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of choice in honor of Sarah.
