Ted Powell, of Forney, passed away April 5, 2020 in Dallas. Ted was born July 26, 1948 in Bonham, Texas to Theodore and Frances (Cline) Powell, both of whom preceded him in death along with his brother, Jack Allen Powell and sister, Polly Olivia Miller. Ted was a 1967 graduate of Rockwall High School and, after graduation, he married the love of his life, Jackie Roberts, in Fate, Tx. He began his apprenticeship in becoming a master plumber, a goal that he did achieve after years of continued education and commitment. Ted worked for, and retired from, Medco Construction where his knowledge and application in keeping plumbing projects in compliance, below budget projections and he provided for continuity and consistency between multiple projects and programs was invaluable. When not working, Ted was an avid collector of antiques and going to estate sales was a frequent and enjoyable pastime as he hunted for historical treasures and vintage items. He also loved to garden and his front yard was an enviable burst of yearly colors with flowers and plants that he cultivated and took care of. Ted would enjoy the simple ability to appreciate a nice glass of wine with family and friends where stories and memories were sure to be shared and he also enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR. His generosity to others was well known and Ted could be counted on to step up and always be there whether it was his lovely wife, children, and his friends. An excellent provider with a kind heart for all, Ted will be greatly missed by his family and all that knew him. Ted is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Jackie Powell; daughter, Sheila Powell; son, Ted Powell, Jr. and wife, Jenny; granddaughter, Sophia; brother, Tony Powell and wife, Debra as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends. Funeral service will be at 11:00am, Thursday, April 9, 2020 at Oakland Memorial Park with Rev. John Lowrie officiating.
