    Tommy Dee Gentry

    June 10, 1943 - October 8, 2020

Tommy Dee Gentry passed away peacefully on October 8, 2020 at his home in Kemp. He was born June 10, 1943 in Hillsboro, Tx to the late Tom Lewis and Marie Pauline Stearman Gentry. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Lawrence Prunty, nephew, Daniel Lewis Gentry, and niece, Towona Dawn Gentry. Tommy was a member of Fireside Dr. Baptist Church in Dallas and he worked for, and retired from, Mesquite ISD after 35 years of dedicated service. He married the love of his life Reita Faye Nelson on June 27, 1964 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Dallas and together they shared many years of happy memories and true love. Tommy loved to work in his yard and tinker in his barn with his tractor. At an early age he had a love for guns and shooting. Tommy was a very private man who had a deep devotion to his family and friends. His quiet counsel helped many who came to him for advice and guidance and he will be missed greatly by all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Reita Gentry of Kemp; daughters: Carol Seabolt and husband, Jim, of Forney, DeeAnn Gentry and Rusty Wolfe of Kemp; grandchildren: Cody James Seabolt and his wife Ali, Casey Seabolt and Dakota Arbor; great grandchildren: Mason Seabolt, Ryder Arbor, Knox Seabolt, Sera Seabolt and Cade Seabolt; sister, Sue Prunty; brothers: William Gentry and wife, Betsy, Michael Gentry and wife, Diane, and Gary Gentry and wife, Judy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and a host of friends. A Gathering will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at 3:00 pm with a Celebration of Life to follow at 4:00 pm at Max Slayton Funerals and Cremations. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association www.diabetes.org.
