    Troy Jestis Jr.

    December 20, 1974 - December 25, 2019

Troy Jestis, of Kaufman, passed away on December 25, 2019 in Dallas. He was born December 20, 1974 in Bonham, Texas. Troy was greeted at the gates of Heaven by his Lord and Savior as well as his father, Troy Sr. Troy graduated from Plano West Senior High School in 1993 and then enlisted in the US Marine Corps from 1994 to 1998. After honorably serving his country, Troy returned home where he was introduced to the love of his life, Heather Stout, by mutual friends. On March 8, 2003, they were married and began their lifetime of love, respect and devotion to each other. His and Heather’s mutual respect and constant partnership to each other and their children were very evident to all who knew them. Next to being a husband, Troy’s greatest joy was being a dad to Becca, Lee, and Drew. He was their hero! He spent countless hours playing basketball and football with them as well as teaching them to fish and hunt. He was active in their sports events whether it was coaching their team or being the proudest supporter in the stands. He gave the best back scratches and shared with them his love of music, how to laugh and tell a silly joke and most of all … how to love life. They could count on him for anything. Everyone that knew Troy knew how much he appreciated cars and his wide-ranging collection over the years was a testament to his impeccable taste. He had a talent for being able to fix anything be it a component of a car, or fixing things around the house or outdoors-there was nothing that he couldn’t fix. Troy enjoyed cooking and grilling, which afforded him the perfect reason to have family and friends gather together. He loved watching college football and was an avid fan of the Texas Tech Red Raiders. In recognition of Troy’s fight with cancer, Becca’s varsity volleyball team at Scurry-Rosser HS dedicated their 2019 season to Troy and involved others in the community and beyond with the hashtag #TeamTroy and the uplifting scripture of Isaiah 41:10, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” His battle with cancer is over; however, Troy won the war with his ever-present bravery, courage and testimony to others to constantly trust, never fear and always love. Troy leaves to celebrate his legacy of unconditional love his wife, Heather Stout Jestis; children: Becca, Lee, and Drew Jestis, all of Kaufman; mother, Carolyn Jestis of Plano; brother, Chuck Jestis and wife, Kim, of Blue Ridge, TX; sisters: Terisa Hill and husband, Bobby of Bonham, TX, Leslie Wood of Houston, Jolynn Ledgerwood and husband, David, of Frisco, and Sandi Thompson and husband, James, of Edgewood as well as his in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family and a host of friends who loved him and will miss him dearly. To celebrate the life of Troy, the family will receive friends from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, Sunday, December 29, 2019, at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel where all are invited to share the impact he had on everyone’s lives. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Semper Fi Fund, a non-profit 501 organization that provides a variety of programs to assist wounded veterans in all branches of the United States Armed Forces at www.semperfifund.org.
