Winnie Pipes McMichael December 28, 1928 – February 11. 2022 Winnie Pipes McMichael transitioned from her temporary earthly home to her permanent home in Heaven on Friday, February 11, 2022. Winnie Pipes was born December 28, 1928, in Terrell, Texas to William Edward Pipes and Laura Felkner Pipes. Winnie married Woodroe McMichael on December 13, 1958. Winnie was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She was also preceded in death by her brother, L. J. Pipes and his wife Tee, Martha Helen Pipes Blasius and her husband Curtis, Billie Jo Pipes, and Lila Vermel Pipes Thompson and her husband Theodore. She is also preceded in death by her grandson, Cliff McMichael and great granddaughter, Margaret Ann Strom. Winnie, a 1946 graduate of Terrell High School, started working at Wheatly Manufacturing in Terrell before moving to Dallas and beginning her career at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company before retiring 31 years later. Winnie became a Christian at 11 years old at First Baptist Church in Terrell and moved her membership to First Baptist Church in Dallas in 1951. She moved her membership to Wilshire Baptist which was closer to her home after retiring where she did a lot of church volunteer work and especially enjoyed working with teaching English to many people. Winnie later moved her membership back to First Baptist Dallas where she was currently a member. Winnie was an active volunteer for many years for the Telephone Volunteers. She also enjoyed volunteering for the Dallas Symphony Women’s League. Winnie loved her family and friends and everyone who knew her heard many stories bragging about her grandkids, great grandkids, nieces and nephews. She is survived by her stepson, Charles (Sonny) McMichael and her stepdaughter, Ann Deane and husband Ed. She is also survived by her grandchildren Janice Sabbagh (James), Michael Kenyon (Julie), Ginger Peterson (Kevin), Charlie Kenyon (Marcie), Lisa Lovell (Jeff), Steve Deane (Alicia), Chase McMichael (Liza). eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Winnie also had a special relationship with her nieces and nephew: Gayle Blasius Owen, Jan Blasius Richardson, Laura Thompson Deniz (David), John Thompson (Robin), Cynthia Pipes McKinney, Charlotte Rand (Freddy), Kathy, Jennifer and Katie. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Christian Care Center Hospice, especially Nurse Sandy and aide Carolyn and special thanks to her wonderful caregiver, Elva. Thank you also to her many friends at Greenway Village Retirement Center of Christian Care Center. Winnie McMichael’s service will be at Max Slayton Funeral Home, 642 N. Rockwall, Terrell, Texas at 10:00am, February 18, 2022, with Rev. John Cullen officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell. Memorials may be made, if desired, in Winnie’s memory to First Baptist Church, Dallas (www.firstdallas.org) or to Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief Fund (www.tbmtx.org).
