Winnie Mae Moody Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Winnie Moody of Terrell passed away peacefully on June 13, 2022. She was born August 15, 1932 in Wills Point and was raised in the Bright Star community, just north of Wills Point. She was joyfully met in Heaven by her Lord and Savior along with her parents John Calvin and Gladys Elizabeth Rushing, her sister, Jane Waddle, brother, Clifford Rushing and son-in-law, Ed Walton. Winnie graduated from Wills Point High School where her sparkling personality made her a friend to many students. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Moody, on October 14, 1949 at the First Baptist Church in Wills Point and together, they both worked alongside each other as they owned and operated Wilson Furniture in Terrell for 30 years. Winnie and Kenneth were familiar faces in Terrell and her bright smile and easy going personality made others feel right at home whether it was in the store or just out visiting. She was also an active and longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Terrell where she served in many areas of ministry, helping others to know the light of Jesus. She loved making dolls and collecting them from all over the world, some of which are on display at the Terrell Heritage Museum. Winnie had an eye for the intricate craftsmanship of the designers and loved to share how each doll differed from cultures and other regions. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends and her specialties were always looked forward to at family gatherings during holidays and get-togethers. She was also known to be a fierce competitor at the 42 table and being Winnie’s partner ensured a win at most games! A beautiful woman of grace and charm, Winnie will be missed by the many lives she touched. She is survived by her beloved husband of over 72 years, Kenneth Moody of Terrell; son, Kenneth “Larry” Moody and wife Carol of Terrell; her daughter, Debbie Walton, also of Terrell; grandson, Jeremy Ledbetter and wife Deanna; great grandson, Matthew Ledbetter, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral Service will be Friday, June 17, 2022 at Max Slayton Funerals and Cremations at 1:00 PM with a private interment to follow at Oakland Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends on Thursday June 16, 2022 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
