David Bowers

David Lynn Bowers Sr., passed away on June 3, 2024 into the presence of his Savior. David was born Jan. 12, 1950 in Carrollton, Illinois. After which, as a very young child, he and his family moved to Texas. David grew up in the Dallas area and was a graduate of Jerseyville High School in Jerseyville, Illinois. Then enlisted in the U.S Navy. He worked from 1981 to 2011 at Arrow Industries/Presto as a maintenance supervisor and after 30 years of dedication, he retired to enjoy life with his family. After retiring and never one to be idle, (Home Depot was Davids’ home away from home!) he started his own business, Lone Star Seamless Gutter and Remodeling that he successfully owned and operated until 2019, when his health began to decline. When not working, David loved all things having to do with cars and he was a frequent attender of car shows and motorcycle rallies where his knowledge of engines made him one of the most interesting conversationalists. David loved the challenge of rebuilding and restoring cars and had many restoration projects over the years with his ‘66 Impala and his ’69 El Camino being his favorites. He loved riding motorcycles and traveling to new places on his bike which made for stories and memories to be shared with others. He enjoyed getting together with friends and family and was often the host of many cookouts where he happily relaxed spending time with loved ones. David was preceded in death by his father, Randall James Bowers, his mother Winifred Horton Spangle, two of his brothers, Gary Bowers and Terry Bowers, and his two sisters, Yvonne (Sis) Herron and Randy JoAnn Bowers. He is survived by his beautiful wife of over 30 years, Delia Bowers; his two daughters, Becky Lynn Nagy and husband Jay, along with Shelly Garrett and husband Edward; his three sons, David L Bowers, Jr., Ray Santibanez and wife Sarah, Emilio Santibanez and wife Michelle. David leaves his grandchildren to carry on his memory: Catelyn, Colton (wife Shara), Rilee (husband Jacob), E.J (wife Jasmere), Elijah, Brandon (wife Christina), Nicolas, David III, Ethan, Jaydon, Drayden and Lexi; his great grandchildren: Isaiah, Mason, Noah, Elias, Emery, Israel, Naomi, Micah, Jemma, Elijah Jr., and babygirl Garrett; two brothers: Dale Horton and wife Claire, and Larry Bowers and wife Judy as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, church family and a host of friends, each of whom will miss him dearly. David's funeral service will be at 2:00pm, Monday, June 10, 2024 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with his family receiving friends beginning at 1:00pm to service time.
