Delores Knight

Delores Marie Knight went home to be with her Lord and Savior on the afternoon of January 15, 2026. She was born March 30, 1936, in Dallas, Texas to George Delmar and Clara Marie Coltharp and was joyfully welcomed into Heaven by her parents, as well as her husband, Wesley “Joe” Knight. Born and raised in Dallas, Delores was an active and devoted part of her community. She attended Woodrow Wilson High School and was a longtime and faithful member at Wilshire Baptist Church for many years. In her professional career, Delores managed payroll for the Hunt Oil Company in Dallas. Working at Hunt Oil Co. enabled her to have many friends, many of whom became just like family, and she enjoyed fun times at work with them until her retirement. In 1955, Delores welcomed her son, Cary Rawlinson. She loved being a mother and her care and attention to Cary was the highlight of her life. Cary was the apple of her eye, and every day spent with Cary was the best day for her. Delores truly never met a stranger and her generous heart and a spirit of hospitality allowed her to have a home that was open and welcome to all. Known for her kindness and selflessness, Delores always set the highest example to her family of love and willingness to give to others. She could always be counted on to make a positive impact whether it was at her work, in her community or to her friends and loved ones. Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved son, Cary Rawlinson; cousins: Bruce Wood and wife, Susie, of Terrell, Texas; Eddie Coltharp of Abilene Texas; Susan Parks and husband, Mike, of Tyler, Texas; Beverly Earwood and husband, Landon, of Granbury, Texas; Dan Wood and wife, Laura, of Terrell, Texas as well as many other extended family members and friends, each of whom will dearly miss Delores. Graveside service for Delores will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2026 at Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell, Texas where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Joe.
