Frances Cullers

Martha Frances Koonce Cullers, a beloved resident of Kaufman, Texas, peacefully passed away on January 28, 2025. Born on December 12, 1940, in Wharton, Texas, Frances was the daughter of Temple Gordon Koonce Sr. and Martha Forgason Koonce. Frances spent her formative years in Hungerford, Texas, immersed in the vibrant life of the JD Hudgins Ranch, where she learned the value of hard work alongside her mother and grandmother. Her childhood was marked by her love for animals, participating in Girl Scouts, rodeo ribbon racing, and playing clarinet in the school band. She cherished moments spent with cousins and weekly family gatherings. During her college years at Abilene Christian College, Frances met William Edward Cullers, the love of her life, at an ice cream social. They married on June 10, 1961, at the Abell Street Church of Christ in Wharton. After completing her education in education, they lived in both Irving and Lubbock due to Ed's work with Humble Oil, ultimately returning to Hungerford in 1968 to work alongside her parents on the ranch. Together, Frances and Ed traveled the world representing the American Brahman Breeders Association, forging lifelong friendships along the way. In 1997, they founded Heritage Cattle Company, where Frances left her mark through her brand design, work ethic, and signature cookie creation. In 2012, Frances and Ed retired to Kaufman, where they continued their dedication to community and church at the Ola Church of Christ. Frances’ faith was a cornerstone of her life, radiating grace, love, and trust in God to all who knew her. Her warm smile and selfless spirit touched countless lives as she served as a Bible school teacher, community volunteer, and supportive partner in Ed's endeavors. Known for her culinary skills, Frances combined artistry with baking, crafting beautifully sculpted cakes that delighted family and friends alike. Frances is preceded in death by her parents, Temple and Martha Koonce, her brother Temple Gordon Koonce, Jr., and sister-in-law Patricia Power Koonce. She is survived by her loving husband of over six decades, Ed Cullers, and their children: Julie Bridges (Chris), Joy Wilson (Kent), and Judd Cullers (Gayla). Her legacy also includes cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life, alongside numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Frances' life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will be cherished forever by those whose lives she touched with her love and compassion. Funerals services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Ola Church of Christ in Kaufman Texas. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 p.m. The interment for Mrs. Cullers will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the Wharton City Cemetery in Wharton, Texas.
