GEORGE F.VEAZEY III George F. Veazey, III, affectionately called “Little George” in his youth and “Veaz” in adulthood, passed away unexpectedly on February 23, 2026 in the home he shared with his wife, Stephannie, in Highland Park, Texas. George was born in Terrell, Texas on August 15,1949 to the late George ("Big George") Franklin Veazey, Jr. and Virginia (“Ginny") Barber Veazey. George grew up in Terrell and graduated from Terrell High School in 1967 and participated in all sports as a proud Terrell Tiger but excelled in baseball. In the fall of 1967, George matriculated at Oklahoma University in Norman, Oklahoma, where he was a member of the Sooner baseball team and Sigma Nu fraternity. He graduated from OU in 1971, receiving his BBA in accounting. George served his country in the Army reserves from 1971-1976. George had an extensive and diverse background in the financial services industry. He began his career by working in public accounting with Arthur Anderson in Oklahoma City before moving to Dallas, where he held several positions and gained valuable experience in commercial lending and oil and gas investments. In 1990, George was recruited into the financial sector. In the years that followed, he held several senior management positions, including Senior Vice President with SunAmerica, Senior Vice President and National Sales Director with AIG Financial Distributors and Senior Investment Advisor with Oklahoma Financial Center. During his career, George earned eight different financial advisory licenses. This afforded him the expertise and opportunity to do what he enjoyed, working with people to improve their financial well-being. George was gifted with the ability to communicate easily with others and make them feel comfortable. In that regard, he was a "natural-born" salesman. He was also a well-known national speaker, who shared the stage with Tony Robbins and Art Mortell, renowned motivational speakers and authors. George loved a good joke or tell a good story. He was such a skilled storyteller that friends often begged him to tell the same story over and over just to experience the joy of laughter again. Since 2022, George served on the Board of Directors of the DFW Wildlife Coalition. This offered him the opportunity to channel his passion for animals by not only personally saving “rescued” animals but also by teaching others the importance of wildlife preservation in our ecosystem. George was a loyal OU fan and served as Chairman of the Dallas OU Alumni club. He held the same season football tickets for the past 40 years and one of his favorite yearly traditions was enjoying the games with his daughter and his grandsons, while visiting with old teammates at the O club. In 50 years, he only missed two OU/Texas games. George will be dearly missed this fall by all those Sooner fans and friends who have held seats near his and enjoyed his endless enthusiasm for the Sooners and the game. George is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Stephannie. Together they shared 39 years of life, travel, adventure and, most importantly, love. Their life together was a love story few are blessed to find. George is also survived by his two daughters, Courtney Currie and her husband, James, of McKinney, Texas and Reagan Veazey of Gresham, Oregon as well as by his beloved grandsons, William and Patrick Currie. George will be remembered for his contagious laughter, embracing smile and endearing sense of humor. Known above all as a faithful friend and devoted family member, George was loved and admired by many and will be profoundly missed. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28, at 1:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church, 503 W. College Street, Terrell, Texas 75160., where his mother taught Sunday school and he therefore never missed a single class until he left home. Immediately thereafter, a reception will be held so that attendees will have an opportunity to visit with and pay their respects to George's family. Turn left onto Barbara Ln, then right onto Griffith St, then left onto College St. The church will be ahead.
