Mr. Hollis D. Crow

Services for Hollis Dewayne Crow, 66, of Tyler, will be held on Wednesday, August 17 at 2:00PM at Tyler Metro Church with Bro. Russell Hathcock and Bro. Jerry Phelps officiating. Hollis went to be with the Lord at 1:52AM on Sunday, August 14, at Hospice of East Texas, surrounded by his family and friends. Hollis was born on July 16, 1950 in Terrell, Texas to the late Albert and Nannie (Brown) Crow. Hollis was the baby of thirteen children, but according to him, he was Grannie's favorite! On January 7, 1977 Hollis married the love of his life, Janice Ruth Green of Terrell, Texas. Hollis and Janice were blessed to spend 39 wonderful years together and were looking forward to celebrating their upcoming 40th anniversary with family and friends. In August of 1979, Hollis and Janice were blessed with a beautiful, loving daughter Holly DeeAnn, who was the true definition of a "daddy's girl". In 2002, Holly added her husband Jason to their family circle, and although Hollis wasn't exactly crazy about Jason at first, "Homer" (as Hollis nick-named him), soon grew to be the son he always wanted, but never had. In 2005 Hollis' world became even sweeter when he became "PawPaw" to his pride and joy, Haylee. She had PawPaw wrapped around her little finger from day one. When Holly's maternity leave came to an end, PawPaw couldn't stand the thought of Haylee going to daycare, so he became a stay-at-home PawPaw for the first two years of Haylee's life. Some of PawPaw's favorite moments were spent watching Haylee play softball, and attending many of her competitive cheer competitions. He loved to cheer his "Pumpkin Head" on from the sidelines. Just when he though his heart couldn't be any fuller, Hollis was blessed in 2014 with a second granddaughter, Harper. She was a PawPaw's girl from the very first moment he held her in his arms, and just as he did with Haylee, he became a stay-at-home PawPaw to Harper, up until his diagnosis in January of this year. Harper and PawPaw loved taking naps together in his recliner. In addition to Hollis and Janice's daughter Holly, Hollis was also blessed with a loving daughter from a previous marriage named Sandy. Circumstances intervened but with God’s all-powerful intercession and restoration, He recently brought Sandy back into our family circle, where Sandy belonged. Hollis cherished spending time with his wife, kids, and grandkids. He absolutely loved trying new places to eat, and he would load the whole family up on many occasions just to drive 100 plus miles to get some good crab legs or crawfish. He would ask, "When's Homer's next day off?"....and we knew he was planning to load up and drive to God-knows-where just to eat! Aside from taking road-trips with his family, Hollis enjoyed deer hunting, but his favorite pastime was fishing. Every chance he got, you could bet Hollis was going fishing. He loved to "challenge" his friends to see who could catch the most, but no matter who was with him, he could always out-fish them. Left behind to cherish all of these wonderful memories is his wife Janice, of Tyler; daughter Holly Hulsey and husband Jason, of Tyler; Sandy Robitzsch and husband Don, of Rockwall; three granddaughters, Haylee Hulsey and Harper Hulsey of Tyler; Makenzie Robitzsch of Rockwall; Sisters: Darlene Lusk and husband Ted of Schertz; Dorinda Cox and husband Rowe of Kaufman; Brothers: Bobby Crow and wife Charlie of Kaufman; Kenneth Crow and wife Winona of Kaufman; Richard Crow and wife Judy of Terrell; and a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends. Hollis was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara McCoy; brothers: Doyle Crow, Ray Crow, Neal Crow and Ransom Crow.
