Jay Cole

Jay was a graduate of Terrell High School, Class of ’86, and as young man, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 390 in Terrell, Texas. Jay was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing and together, with his daughters, they made many lasting memories with the hunting trips they took together. Jay also was a longtime and dedicated employee of K.L. Breeden Trucking where his knowledge and attention to detail on transit routes were both hallmarks of his career. Working with the Breeden’s enabled Jay to hone professional skills that allowed him to continue his career in Risk Management at other transport companies in the Dallas area but his heart was always home in Terrell with his “first” work family and Jay truly treasured those relationships, many of which continued his whole life. A devout follower of the Lord, Jay enjoyed reading his Bible daily and he was a lifetime and active member of First Christian Church in Terrell. Having grown up in First Christian, Jay had many memories of his Sunday School classes, his parents, Elvy and Kay, involvement in all church activities as well as his Boy Scout memories in that Troop 390 was based at First Christian Church. At home, he classic and traditional country music and hymns and he never missed an episode of Grand Ol’ Opry on television. Jay was also a devoted father to his daughters, Audrey and Molly, and they were both the pride and joy of his life as well as his greatest accomplishment. Later on, Jay knew even more joy as he became a beloved “Papa” to his precious grandchildren, both of whom he adored and loved. Jay was a man who made sure to stay connected to his family and cherish those connections all his life and his telephone calls, visits and conversations will be missed greatly by all who knew him. Jay is survived by his daughters: Audrey Hamilton and husband John, of Hondo, TX, and Molly Valdelamar and husband Hilarion, of Terrell; his grandchildren, Owen Hamilton and Adelina Valdelamar; mother, Kay Cole, and sister Kim Cole-Wilhite, both of Terrell, and his former wife, with whom Jay always remained close to, Terri Cole of Elmo, as well as other extended family, church family and friends. A celebration of his life will be at 11:00am, Friday, Feb. 16, 2024 at First Christian Church in Terrell. Jay's family will receive friends 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Thursday, Feb. 15, at First Christian Church.
