Johnny Kelly

Johnny Ed Kelly, 69, passed away at his home on December 27, 2025. He was born Dec. 22, 1956 in Ft. Worth, TX. Johnny was joyfully reunited in spirit with his late siblings, Janet Cassel-Cole and Jimmy Cassel and his grandparents, Merle & Alma Edson, and mother-in-law, Jean Taylor. Johnny grew up in the Ft Worth area and was a veteran, having proudly served with the US Marine Corps. He began his career driving trucks both locally and over-the-road to different states. He worked for many years as a dedicated driver for Roma in Orlando, FL for 15 yrs before moving back to Texas where he was introduced to a lovely lady named Sherry by his sister. On June 2, 2007, Johnny and Sherry married and made their home in Forney. They owned and operated their own transportation company, J & S Trucking, in Forney and together made a life and home filled with love and faith. As a devoted veteran of the USMC, he exemplified loyalty in his roles as a son, father, husband, Papa and brother. Johnny had a well known love for Nascar which started while driving for Roma in Florida. Johnny would transport and deliver supplies to a concession vendor by the name of Oxy for the races and, while delivering, he would get a front row view to the pits, the cars, the drivers and the experience. Not only an avid fan of Nascar racing, he also loved his Dallas Cowboys and was a devoted supporter of “America’s Team”. If Johnny could leave his family and friends with a parting message, he would say, "HOORAH!" He is survived by his beloved wife of over 18 years, Sherry Kelly; devoted parents, Jeanie and Earnest Kelly; his son, Andrew Beyer-Kelly; his daughter, Kimberly James-Kelly; and his step children: Taylor Sikes and John Walden and wife, Monica; grandchildren who will always remember him as the “Best Papa Ever”: Althea, Sarah, Evelyn, Tucker, Clifton, and Quinn; Johnny is also leaves his memory to be cherished by his siblings: Joy Cassel-Eck and her husband, Harold; Robert Cassel Jr. and his wife, Patricia; Jerry Cassel and his wife, Maria; Joan Cassel-Peckham and her husband, Michael; Judy Cassel-Smith and her husband, Cavet; and Jack Cassel; his brothers-in-law, Bobby Taylor and Darrell Taylor, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other extended family and a host of friends. His legacy will endure in the hearts of all who cherished him, and he will be lovingly remembered by those who celebrate his life. A Celebration of Johnny's life and legacy will be at 11:00am, Monday, January 26, 2026 in Reflections Venue at Max Slayton Funerals. Committal Service will be at 3:00pm, Monday, at D/FW National Cemetery with USMC honors.
