Linda Britton

Linda Sue Britton passed peacefully from this life on Friday, December 22, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 26, 1942, in Paducah, Kentucky, to Rubel and Irene Washam and was joyfully reunited in Heaven with her parents, her beloved husband, Benny Don Britton, parents-in-law, Ben and Ruby Britton, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roy and Judy Webb and nephew, Scott Webb along with many other family and treasured friends who have passed before her. As a young lady, Linda Sue’s family moved to Terrell, Texas when she was in the 7th grade. She graduated from Terrell High School in 1960 and married her high school sweetheart, Benny Don Britton, on January 20, 1961. Their marriage lasted 53 years until Benny’s death on November 27, 2015. Linda loved the Lord, her family and many friends and she was an active member of Rockwall & Brin Church of Christ. Linda could always be found in the kitchen preparing meals and making sure every gathering was filled with love and laughter. She also enjoyed collecting glassware (with many trips to countless antique stores with her family!) sewing, and volunteering at Community Hospital, where her smile and kindness were a bright light in many patients’, patients’ families and staff member’s days. Later in life, when she became a grandmother, Linda’s grandchildren were her pride and joy and she was their number one fan and tireless supporter. She and Benny attended every event and activity they possibly could and could often be found cheering and clapping the loudest at the events. Linda was always willing to help anyone and made sure to be an encourager to everyone she met. A beautiful lady, inside and out, Linda will be forever remembered and always cherished. Linda Sue leaves her legacy of love to be carried on by her daughter, Shawn Tidwell of Terrell; sons: Shane Britton and wife, Paige, of Brownwood, and Shay Britton and wife, Kim, of Forney; grandson, Britton Tidwell and wife, Holly, of Phoenix, Arizona; granddaughters: Annie Shae Robinson of Terrell, TX; Brooklyn Longabaugh and husband, Reid, of Brownwood, TX; Chandler Britton of Brownwood, TX; Berkeley Britton of Brownwood, TX; and Jocelyn Britton of Forney, TX; great-grandchildren: Orrin, Brandon, Kayleigh, Avery, Maddie and Finn; brother, Charlie Washam of Lynnville, Tennessee along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, church family and countless friends, each of whom will miss Linda very much. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 5, 2024, at Rockwall and Brin Church of Christ with her family receiving friends beginning at 1:00pm to service time. Interment will follow the funeral at Oakland Memorial Park, where Linda will be laid to rest next to her beloved Benny.
