Linda Maddox

Linda Maddox, of Canton, TX, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026 with her family at her side. Linda was born on September 9, 1946 in Oklahoma City, OK to Junior and Virginia Post, both of whom preceded her in death along with her sister-in-law, Shirley Post. Linda graduated from Crooked Oak High School in 1965 and she had a talent for singing with a voice readily compared to angels. She, along with other gospel singers, traveled all over the US and Canada bringing the Good News of Jesus to others with joyful songs and hymns. A few years after her gospel singing tours, Linda began her true life’s calling to be the best mom to her children, Shannon, Michelle and Joe. She was very active and involved in their lives making sure they each knew Linda was their number one supporter and cheering them on in any new challenge. She even coached her daughter’s softball teams and, later, would proudly coach her granddaughter’s teams also. The only thing that excited Linda more than being a mom was becoming a “MoMo” and her grandchildren became the absolute lights of her life. She never missed a chance to see them in all their events, near and far. Whether it was band, softball, baseball, rodeo, cheer or any other event, Linda was absolutely going to be there to, once again, be their biggest and number one fan. There was no distance too far or too long that Linda didn’t prepare and plan to be in attendance, showing her great love for each of them. When not spoiling her family members or traveling to events, Linda worked with Kaufman County until her retirement in 2014. The many friends she got to know at work became as close as family and she treasured the time with them at the different offices she was assigned to over the years. She was also a longtime and faithful member of First Baptist Church in Canton where her servant’s heart for others and bright, welcoming smile was easily seen by both members and visitors. A true Proverbs 31 woman, Linda will be greatly missed and her example of love, devotion and loyalty will be forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will be lovingly and proudly carried on by her daughters: Shannon Maddox and Michelle Harlow and husband, Bryan; her son, Joe Maddox and wife, Sabrina; grandchildren: Ryleigh Corbitt and husband, David, Peighton Farmer, Taryn Bartlett and husband, Montana, Madeline Harlow, Garrett Maddox and wife, Tomi; great grandchildren: Olivia Corbitt, Magnolia Bartlett and Millie Maddox with another anticipated arrival of a great grandchild; brothers: Larry Post and Stephen Post and wife, Janet; sister, Karla Post along with many nieces and nephews, and ‘sisters by choice’: Margaret Landman and Phyllis Gordon. Funeral service will be at 1:00pm, Friday, March 27, 2026 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at College Mound Cemetery Her family will receive friends from 11:00am to service time.
