Margaret Dudley

Margaret Dudley, 90, of Terrell, Texas, passed peacefully on April 4, 2026. She was born on May 21, 1935, in Elmo, Texas to Griff and Ola Mae (Shepard) Whiteside. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles; son, Ricky Don; brothers: Tommy Whiteside, Jack Whiteside, and Don Whiteside; and sister in laws: Bobbie Whiteside and Wanda Whiteside. Margaret began her early schooling in Elmo before continuing to Wills Point, where she graduated from Wills Point High School. After graduating, Margaret spent several years working at Don’s Shoe Store in Terrell before finding her calling at Country View Nursing Home in 1974. Over the next 36 years, she served as the Activity Director, creating meaningful moments and connections for the residents she cared for. She retired in 2010, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and dedication. As devoted as she was to her patients, Margaret’s family knew her love and care like no other. She married Charles on June 18, 1954. Together they raised a family and built an incredible life in Elmo, where they remained lifelong residents. Faith was an important part of Margaret’s life. She was a member of Elmo United Methodist Church until it merged with Poetry United Methodist Church in 1996, where she continued her membership. In her later years, Margaret’s faith never wavered, and when she could no longer drive to church, she began visiting Elmo Community Church with close friends. At home, Margaret found joy in simple things. She loved tending to her garden and spent many years growing vegetables, always making sure to share her harvest with friends and family. She also enjoyed traveling across the country with Charles, along with her brothers and their wives. Those trips were filled with laughter, stories, and lasting memories that she carried with her throughout her life. Margaret will be remembered for her steady presence, her generous spirit, and the quiet way she cared for the people around her. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Reed and husband, Tony of Forney, TX; granddaughter, Amy Parks and husband, Chad of Sunnyvale, TX; grandson, Kyle Reed and wife, Jennifer of Heath, TX; great grandchildren: Luke and Will Parks, Camden and Remi Reed; sisters-in-law: Linda Whiteside, Beverly Dudley of Terrell, TX, Sue Lawson of Terrell, TX, and Dorothy Tobiassen of Orlando, FL; brother-in-law, Neely Dudley and wife Teddy of Tulsa, OK as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in honor of Margaret to the Elmo Cemetery Association at P.O. Box 150, Elmo, Texas 75118 A Graveside Service for Margaret will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2026 at Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell, Texas.
