Dr. Morris R. Hill

Dr. Morris Reagan Hill of Forney, TX passed away March 21, 2024 in Rockwall, TX. Morris was born on January 16, 1932 in Fort Worth, TX to Sidney Reagan Hill and Alma Eugene Cashion Hill. After High school, he attended Arlington State where he received an Associate Degree of Science in 1952, then transferred to the University of Texas at Austin and in 1955 earned degrees in both Bachelor of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. In 1959, he earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas School of Medicine in Galveston, TX. His surgical residency was at Marion County General Hospital , Indianapolis which he completed in 1964 before returning to practice in Ft. Worth, TX. After a brief practice in Ft. Worth, Dr. Hill had the opportunity to become a partner and create the Barton & HIll Clinic in Whitney and practiced faithfully for 21 years. While practicing in Whitney, Morris also was an active member of the community. He served on the Whitney ISD Board of Trustees for 15 years. He also had a heart for missions and was involved in medical mission trips. He was a founding member of First Nazarene Church in Whitney. Shortly after marrying his best friend Barbara, they joined First Baptist Church Whitney where he served as a Deacon until they semi-retired and moved to Salado. While living in Salado he commuted to Waco until his final retirement from the VA in 2001. During the years in Salado he was an active member and Deacon of First Baptist Church Salado, Texas until 2010 when they moved to Forney, Texas. There he continued to serve, joined as a deacon at First Baptist Forney until his health prevented him from continuing to serve. He received a pin for 50 years of Family Medicine practice from the American Academy of Family Physicians where he was a Fellow and also received a 10 years of service from the Veterans Administration Hospital of Waco. He had many hobbies. He began running in his 40s and participated in many 5k races in Waco. He routinely ran 3-5 miles per day. He had cattle farms in Whitney & Cranfills Gap. He loved to travel, snow ski, water sports and spend time with all the family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Peggy Renfro and his brother, Doug Hill. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Hill; his sons Daniel Hill of Plano, TX; Greg Pharris and his wife Karrie, of Forney, TX; Johnny Hill and his wife Cathy,of Allen, TX; Tim Hill and his wife Keitha of Gail, TX and Britt Pharris of Lubbock; his daughters Trenna Fitzpatrick and her husband Kevin, of Bandera, TX; Becky Price and her husband Marvin of Itasca, TX; and Jenifer Neffendorf of Austin. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; Sydney Gonzales and her husband Casey, Donovan Hill and his wife Lisa, Shanna Hill, Skylar Hill, Joy Hill, Morgan Groff and her husband Michael, Katie Fernandez and her husband Nick, Will Fitzpatrick, Ragan Warren and her husband Joel, Reed Pharris, Mattie Price, Mason Price, Joshua Hill and his wife Amanda, Rachel Hill, Brandon Neffendorf, CJ Neffendorf, Avery Wright, Haven Hill, Harbor Hill and 10 great grandchildren; Gideon and Raven Gonzales, Levi and Ezra Hill, Easton and Baby Hill, Remi and Parker Groff, Judah and Abe Warren. He is also survived by his Brother-in-law, Donald Sawyer and his wife Sharon and his sister-in-law Shirley Hill and many nieces, nephews and friends. Memorials can be sent in Memory of Dr Morris R Hill to First Baptist Church, 1003 College St Forney, TX OR Salado Historical Society Cemetery, PO Box 251, Salado, TX 76571 Funeral will be at 12:00pm, Thursday, March 28, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Forney with his family receiving friends beginning at 11:00am to service time. Interment will be at Salado Cemetery in Salado, Texas.
