Rebecca Moss

Jimmy Rebecca Moss, beloved wife, mother and friend, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2024. Rebecca was born in Wills Point, Texas on October 1, 1946, to Robert Leland and Anne Catherine Slayton, both of whom preceded her in death along with brother Jerry Bob Slayton. Rebecca graduated from Terrell High School as the last graduating class of that historic campus located at the corner of College St. and N. Rockwall Ave. She then attended Tyler Junior College and began her career as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone. She then pursued a new career at Terrell ISD working in the Administration Office Building until her retirement. Rebecca met the love of her life, Lonnie Moss, and they were married on February 6, 1970, and, together, they built a home filled with love and affection. After her retirement, she was often found walking her dogs, Jess and Chip, around the neighborhood where her friendly smile would greet those she came across. Rebecca and Lonnie were active and longtime members at Emmanual Baptist Church in Terrell where she could always be found helping in any way that she could during services and church activities. A woman of genuine warmth and strong faith, Rebecca will be deeply missed by her family, friends, church family and countless others. Left to cherish her memories are her beloved husband of 54 years, Jeffrey Lonnie Moss; daughter, Mary Beth Wall and husband Tim; son, Jeffrey Moss and wife Leah. Also left to carry on her legacy are her grandson Cody Moss, and granddaughter Gracie Wall; sister, Mary Katherine Mills and husband Harry; sister-in-law, Audrey Appleton along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, July 26, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Oakland Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 5 - 7 pm at the Max Slayton Funeral Chapel.
