Ronnie Adams

Ronnie Adams passed away June 20, 2024 at OU Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, his aunt, and his brother Garry. Ronnie was born, the youngest son of Inez and James Adams, on September 30, 1947 in the small town of Crandall, Texas. In his youth, he attended Crandall High School and later automotive courses at Eastfield College- beginning his career in Automotive Paint and Body repair. Later owning and operating his own repair business: Terrell Paint and Body. He spent many years in Terrell where he raised his three children Justin, Holly and Aaron. He found great satisfaction participating and acting in many productions at the Kaufman County Civic Theatre, as well as the cast parties that followed each production. He met many lifelong friends there whom he held near and dear to his heart. While in Terrell, he also attended Good Shepherd Episcopal Church often on the day following the aforementioned cast parties. In his later years, he ventured out to the West, Texas town of Alpine. There, he worked at Sul Ross State University. He loved the friends he met in Alpine and enjoyed the small town charm there. He appreciated the events, art and music that take place in Alpine and the neighboring towns of Marfa and Terlingua. He was quick with a joke, easy to make laugh, and enjoyed being around people. He loved art, music, “the theatre” (and saying theatre with a French accent and a hand up in the air), and a glass of red wine or whiskey- you know, whatever you got lying around. You could find him driving around town waving with one window rolled down, sitting outside drinking a refreshing beverage, being anywhere with good company, or strolling around the aisles of a thrift store - perhaps wearing a hat or subtle Hawaiian print shirt. He knew how to relax. He knew how to have fun, and in my opinion, he left this last party too soon....but he WAS never one to be bossed around. He will be sorely missed by his children Justin, Aaron and Holly, his nephew Butch and family, in addition to many friends, especially Jim Lott and Anselmo Reyes. So, I close with this… because he always said it, perhaps to annoy his children, or perhaps to remind us of the irritating truth of age: “The days they go slow, (then he would pause and tilt his head for dramatic effect), “but the years they fly by.” Services for Ronnie will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Terrell, Texas with interment to follow at Crandall Cemetery in Crandall, Texas. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2 at the Max Slayton Funeral Chapel.
